A Photo Exhibition - CHARACTERISTICS OF THE CAPE

Planned for 14 – 27 MAY, 2011 @ Elizabeth Guszley Gallery.

Opening night will be Friday, 13 May when award certificates will be presented at a ‘drinks’ event in the gallery. Sponsors and community members will be invited. Bar to be run by the gallery, proceeds will help pay for the materials and other costs.

It's open to EVERYONE! A celebration of the beauty & unique character of Cape York.

Three categories:
Colour challenge ; a study of granite. This photographic challenge is a study of the rock on which our landscape is shaped. It determines the colour and quality of much of our environment

Characters of the Cape: COLOUR or B/W – A portrait that expresses the unique characters of one or more of the Cooktown regions residents (people/animals).

B/W: A study of light & shape

Other details:
Advertised in Cooktown Local News as well as posters in popular community hubs, this exhibition is open to all people. All entries will be on sale through the Gallery (price nominated by entrant) and once purchased, the entrant agrees to the sale of copyright for that image. Entries may be submitted as simply the photograph will be mounted on white ‘corflute’ (or similar) board as supplied by the gallery, although framed pieces are welcome. Entry fee is $5 (towards cost of materials) and there is no limit to the number of entries per person.

There is no size limit for any of the categories. Entries must have a photographic image integral to the design of the entry although it is not limited to kodachrome material only. There is no limit to the other materials used to create the entry other than to remember that the photo must be integral to the creative design of the entry.

Judges:
Amanda Hogbin – confirmed.
Tess Buhmann (if she doesn’t make an entry herself)

Potential Sponsors: Cooktown Local News – advertising/editorial support, Cook Shire Council, CDCC, Far North Photos, Endeavour Pharmacy, IGA, Cooktown Medical Centre, CCAA
