Cooktown Recycled Art Exhibition was organised by Diana Burns and with the help of volunteer workers opened 26th March 2011 with an afternoon tea at 2:30pm at our gallery. Entries were of a high standard and showed a lot of imagination in turning waste and old throw away's into useful and or beautiful art! The four categories of - Functional - furniture, craft work, wearable objects; Garden Art - 3D free standing; Artistic with imagination being the key; and Environmental from materials and waste going to landfill, being functional and energy efficient and illustrating the pertinence of environmental issues. The competition was open to all Cook Shire community members, groups and organisations and had adult and junior sections in each category. Well done Cooktown!

33rd Annual Art Exhibition open Saturday 4th June
Want to help!
As usual we have heaps to do to be ready. We need to organise refreshments, have the gallery ready the week prior, assist receiving art entries and a hanging committee to supervise the artworks are attractively displayed.

Once we have all the entries the Exhibition Catalogue will need to be typed out and printed. We'll need a judges assistant and lists for the judges. Anyone who would like to assist contact either Tracey, Rosie, Nicole, Diana or Faye and you'll be warmly welcomed!

We'll also need members to be available to help host opening night - greeting people, selling raffle tickets, plating up finger foods and drinks. Also a photographer to get the opening on record!
+++++++++++++++++++++++++

Members Market Stall
The front verandah of the gallery will be made available at no charge and no commission fees to members to set up a table to sell sell sell! If you wish you can donate some of the money you make to the gallery!
This will help attract people to the gallery and is a pleasant area with a view of the street activities and parade!

Elizabeth Johns Solo Art Exhibition!
Friday 1 July to Friday 15 July
Stay tuned for more as gets closer.

Art Auction for Friday 12th August
Want to help!
As usual we have heaps to do if we wish to organise this art auction. The idea is to 'sell off' all the art works that you wish to 'get rid of' at a reasonable reserve price - maybe no reserve? - and clear the decks of all your unframed art or unsold art. We welcome suggestions on how we may do this auction.

'Av A Cuppa Tea and Chat on Verandah Idea!
Maybe in Saturday mornings?
As a way to attract visitors to gallery? What do you think? Would anyone be interested in providing yummy home made foods - Faye will bake muffins - to have with a cuppa. Should the gallery buy some more 'tea and coffee' making gear? Plunger, nice cups - what about cups that can be painted with peoples names for regulars or sponsors. Any input welcomed. As weather improves having a 'cuppa' on the verandah could become a regular drop in place.
