David K Rees was the judge - see his web site - http://www.david-k-rees.com/index.php
David was accompanied by his new wife Val. Together they graciously gave of their time to discuss art and techniques with the artists.
As this year was the largest number of entries we have ever had we only just managed to fit all the art works in the gallery. David had the difficult task of judging 119 entries in 12 categories! Thankfully not every work that had been entered was submitted!
The evening of Saturday 30th May was our opening night. This was a great success. The feedback from the invited guests was all positive. They loved the art on display and the diversity of styles and mediums. We had a full range of achievements ranging from budding younger artists through to those who are recognised at a professional level.
The consensus was that our art society, under the leadership of our President Betty Clarke, has gone from strength to strength. In October 2006 Betty decided she would take on the Presidents job. She had a vision in mind to develop the art society. She said at the time, "When I came into the office I came in with a wish list; changes that I felt needed to be implemented in order for the Gallery to become a viable, vibrant place for people to want to display their art works, feel happy to visit or work and that would encourage locals and tourists to visit and hopefully increase art sales."
If this years exhibition is any indication of the progress that has been made then we are surely on the right path.
The photos of the art works will soon appear on out web site.
