Cooktown Kids Art Society means:
Running more fun kids community art events
Buying quality art materials for kids to use in visual art education sessions
Supporting talented kids aspiring to be artists
We offer multiple art mediums for the budding artists to explore and wish to continue to do so!
We provide hands on help to kids wishing to create art at our drop-in gallery sessions and Art Workshops.
Some of the artistic creations being produced by our local kids are amazing.
Our adult member artists love to share their passion and help kids create their own art.
Evidence of our productivity: https://www.facebook.com/groups/KidsArtSociety/ and http://cooktown-kids-art-society.blogspot.com.au/
To do so we need art gear so we can create art to be enjoyed by many more.
Art is a visual language that can show us new ways to see the familiar.
Our artists Art works are in a variety of mediums and styles including oil, pastel, watercolour, acrylic, mixed media, charcoal, graphite, pen & ink and indigenous art linked to local cultural traditions. We also have mosaics, pottery, fibre, wood, ceramic pieces and other craft works. All these skills are shared!
We see art as valuable to kids and so try to see that anyone who wishes to be involved in visual arts has the opportunity.
Cooktown Kids Art Sessions have been funded by ON-LINE CROWD-FUNDING and RADF project funding to provide art materials and art education for kids aged 6 to 12 (due to demand have some under 6 as long as adult stays and some over 12 - up to 16 - depending on level of interest in visual art we assist all kids. Local artists acting as facilitators run art education sessions at least monthly and also weekly or even daily over school holidays
